ALMOST NO WASTE OF MATERIALS
In traditional key production, for every 20 tonnes of keys produced, 80 tonnes of metal have to be transported back for recycling. Furthermore, the process of drilling holes in these 20 tonnes of keys creates another tonne of splinters that also have to be recycled and, unfortunately, are often not recycled. When keys are 3D printed, only the material that actually makes up the key is used, the rest of the metal is used for the next print. This results in less than 2% material waste.
REDUCING FACTORY SPACE BY A FACTOR OF 10
The main manufacturing factories are often the size of two to three basketball courts, packed with machines with up to seven production steps (punching, engraving, cutting, coating...). 3D printing requires a single machine the size of a Cinquecento. This machine can go through all the steps in one pass and print over 1000 customised keys (batch size 1).
NO UNNECESSARY STORAGE OF OLD MACHINES
Each generation of traditional keys requires its own machines, which are often stored for more than 50 years in case someone requests more such keys. 3D printers can produce all generations of keys with the same machine and in the same build job.
DRAMATIC REDUCTION IN TRANSPORT DISTANCES
Traditional key factories ship keys from a central factory to millions of customers around the world. With 3D printing, the printers are placed close to the customer. A distributed network of key printing machines delivers the high-security keys to local customers within a day. The countless long-distance transports as well as customs are a thing of the past. Send physical keys digitally and print them on site!
STRONG AND LONG-LASTING
Stealth Keys do not rust, they withstand high temperatures, are extremely durable and last for two lifetimes.
